A couple of days ago I was scrolling through a few tabs on my computer when I saw something unusual. I had a two hour time block titled “Get Psyched Podcast Anniversary” on my google calendar. I double checked my podcast to make sure that was right, and sure enough the 27th of January is the two year anniversary of the podcast.
I quickly pulled up some tabs and started planning how I’d celebrate. I need to make a podcast and video, clearly, and a blog would be nice too. But what would they be about?
I couldn’t do anything special without first saying my thanks to everyone who’s encouraged me, supported me, and stuck around these last two years.
Once again, I’ll say thank you so much to everyone who’s been around the get psyched mission. Thank you to WKNC for helping me get started and providing continual support. Thank you PME for your friendship, being a great recurring guest, and allowing me to use one of your amazing beats. Thank you ma, Ela, and sisters for being supportive and handy editors. And thank you to everyone else who’s stuck around for the journey. I promise things will only get better from here.
If you want to see the full thank you video, you can find it here on my YouTube.
After sharing my thanks I also had to do some reflecting. I pondered on where this all started and where it would all go. For anyone unfamiliar, this all started back in college when I became a Dj and employee of WKNC. Originally I was only DJ Psyched, a radio show host hosting a show called “2k Indie”. Then I got the opportunity to start a podcast known as the Get Psyched Podcast. The clever name is thanks to PME.
Things were tying up well and after a while I decided that I’d film some of my podcasts and put them on YouTube. For a while I got very into video making, and the podcast and YouTube were my everything. Eventually, I had personal struggles that led me becoming more distant from my work. I started this blog to see if maybe I just needed a new outlet, but it became stressful for me to have a work life balance and eventually I fell out again.
On this two year anniversary, I’ve been motivated to come back strong. It’s been a long time coming, but I’m in a good place to get back to my old antics and start creating more.
If you want to hear more, you can listen to the podcast on the history of getting psyched here and anywhere you listen to podcasts.
What comes next?
New projects. I figure I can use this blog to get you psyched and get myself some accountability.
John Dies at the End is going to be a huge focus of mine. I want the podcasts of the 3rd and 4th book to be epic, since I know the new book will be.
I also have a very special fundraiser I’m working on, and I can’t wait to get you all Psyched for it. I am releasing a video today that is meant to be a teaser. Here’s a hint.
I can’t wait to see what the next few years will be like. I’m looking forward to new projects, challenges, feedback, and potential collaborations. If you enjoy anything you’ve seen here or on my other channels please like, comment, and subscribe/follow. I know it sounds cheesy, but your support is appreciated and your feedback is heard.
Until next time,
Stay Psyched

It’s so cool to reach milestones like these. Two years is a big deal, and it must be something dear to you to have stuck to it for so long. Wishing you many more years to come, and keep on keeping on!
